Most Moncks Corner calls start with something you can feel: a hot upstairs, a room over the garage that never cools down, cold floors over the crawl space or a power bill that keeps climbing. In older houses I usually find insulation that has settled thin, piled deep in the middle of the attic and nearly bare at the edges, with open gaps around can lights, pipes and the hatch letting air straight through.
Under the house, batts often sag or drop out of the floor framing, and up top the eave vents sometimes end up buried under earlier insulation, so the attic can't breathe and moisture shows in the wood. When you call, it helps to know roughly how old the house is and how many inches are already up there, because those two numbers tell me a lot before I climb the ladder.
